Meet the Team

Hand in Hand

Hand in Hand on your path to recovery.

You do not need to make this journey alone. We are here to provide education and support to help you with your pursuit of life interests with your family, friends, employers, and to be a self-sufficient member in your community.

Mikayelo (Miki) Schamp

Meeting Facilitator

Mikayelo has been a resident of Oakdale since childhood. He is now in his sixth year of recovery. A husband to Karly and a father to his young daughter, Miki came to sober life after being a gang member and substance abuser throughout his early adulthood.  During his time in recovery, he established a relationship with Jesus and is devoted to serving as a worship leader.  For the past several years he has remained committed to growing his relationship with God, working full time to support his family and volunteering to help those in the community who suffer from substance and Alcohol abuse.  He hold James 5:16 close to his heart:

“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”

Karly Schamp

Meeting Facilitator

Karly Schamp, wife of Miki, also grew up locally.  She has been clean and sober since 2018, following open heart surgery, a pivotal time in which she seriously considered her own mortality.  Following her recovery she began to follow a Christian path, which she continues to do today.  She has a strong sense of servanthood through serving those in our community.  Raising a child with husband Miki, holding down a full-time supervisory job, and serving as a group leader for the Hand in Hand meetings, keeps her fully occupied. She has also worked as an EMT, and has an associate degree in Criminal Justice from San Joaquin Jr. College.  She takes great daily inspiration from Philippians 4:13:

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
